This website does not include a ‘text version’, but most websites in the early 1990s did.

A ‘text version’ was a version of the website with no graphics, photos and similar, only with words. This practice was widespread at the time because many web users had very limited internet access in terms of how many bits they could receive, and since graphics are more ‘heavy’ than just words a ‘text version’ was the solution for a website to get more users and for the users to be able to ‘surf’ more websites.

E.g a ‘text version’ can be found on the sub-pages of the White House’s website, whitehouse.gov, that has inspired the structure of the present website.
