Hamburg on the web in the 1990s

There are a few other academics working with the history of the web in the 1990s, one of these is the project ‘Hamburg First Clicks’. It is a project run by five students and their lecturer Jens Crueger from the University of Hamburg.

The aim of the project is to enable “eine Reise zurück in die Anfänge des Internets in Hamburg!”, as well as to make Hamburg’s web cultural heritage visible: “Gemeinsam tauchen wir ein in archivierte Websites von Verwaltung, Kultur, Politik, Zivilgesellschaft und Wirtschaft aus den 90ern und erstellen eine virtuelle Ausstellung auf Social Media, die die Geschichte des frühen Internets erzählt.”

As one can see there are some possible overlaps with my approach to the histories of the Danish web in the 1990s.
